NORSK VERSJON

A special place to stay in Lofoten

A warm welcome at Lofoten's most westerly island ...
Far out in the Norwegian sea, on the outermost of the larger islands in the Lofoten archipelago, lies the small village of Fredvang. The name Fredvang means "peaceful meadow", and it really is very peaceful and lovely in this little village underneath the mighty Lofoten mountains.

A Lofoten holiday gives you the best of two kinds of holiday - a seaside retreat combined with a holiday in the mountains. The islands gives you some of the most stunning and beautiful nature in Norway, with steep mountains rising directly up from the stormy North Sea. Fredvang is an excellent starting point for exploring Moskenes Island, the most westerly and exciting island in all Lofoten. You can go for hiking trips or climbs in the overwhelming landscape, go fishing on the teeming ocean, or take a drive to explore all the small, charming fishing villages and townships on the island. Lofoten is also a very good location for a bicycle holiday, because almost every road follow the sea and therefore is mostly flat.

Finn and Tove will give you a warm welcome and pleasant accommodation in the separate apartment in their house in Fredvang. Or if you're feeling more adventurous, you can live in the "Naustet" - an old boathouse just by the sea - to really get a feeling for the Lofoten-life!

Just send Finn and Tove an e-mail: fisolha@online.no
or give them a call on +47 941 64 255 to book your unique Lofoten experience!

The apartment
Comfort and charm in Fredvang

In Finn and Tove's own house there is a small, cosy apartment for rent. There are two beds in the bedroom, and if you need it, it is possible to have an extra bed in the living room. The apartment has a bathroom with shower, so that one can fresh up after the mountain hike in the rough Lofoten nature, before relaxing in front of the TV or maybe hanging out at the village pub.

In the kitchen you can prepare today's catch of fresh fish in real Lofoten style. Finn is a gourmet for traditional Lofoten cooking, and has plenty of tips for everything from cod to "lutefisk".

"Naustet" - the fishing house
Real rustic Lofoten living

Finn has turned his father's old boathouse into a very special place for traditional Lofoten dinners, parties and sleeping. Downstairs is still used as a boathouse, with fishing nets and boats. But upstairs everything is ready for a rustic Lofoten holiday!

Inside the decoration is charmingly original, with lots of dear, personal belongings and clutter. You'll find a rather informal corner for cooking, a large eating area with sea and mountain view, a double bed, and sofa corner.
The "Naustet" has the Røssøy-stream right outside of the window, and here you can often see the fishing boats on their way to and from the fishing places in the North Sea.

Outside you'll find a eating place in the sun, a shower and a small old fashioned toilet.

A far cry from sterilized four star hotel comfort - instead you'll get 10 stars of real old fashioned Lofoten living!

Type: Fishing house with room for everything from party to breakfast
Size: 40 m2
Beds: 2 - 5
Bath: Fresh air shower and dry toilet

Explore Lofoten and Fredvang

Fredvang is in a peaceful and secluded part of Moskenes Island, the outermost of the larger Lofoten islands. Farther out in the North Sea is only the isles of Værøy and Røst. Fredvang is a perfect starting point for exploring the Lofoten archipelago, for refreshing and exciting fishing or mountaineering in the utterly amazing Lofoten nature. Finn and Tove knows Lofoten very well, and can give you many tips on things to see and explore.

The Lofoten mountains is no joke, so it is a very good idea to talk to locals before starting your walk. Finn is as familiar in the Lofoten mountains as in his own pocket, and can give you advice on short walks, longer hikes and really dizzying challenges. Whatever level you choose, you'll find stunning nature and really amazing views.

Finn and Tove can also help you to get a boat if you'd like to go out fishing. It is also possible to join a real Lofoten fisherman on his fishing vessel if the weather is fair. The Lofoten weather is like the Lofoten woman, changing from beauty and sun to strength and storm and rain in a sudden. But even bad weather is exciting in Lofoten!

We're looking forward to welcoming you in Fredvang in Lofoten!
