The Woodshed

Large amounts of wood were necessary for heating during the long winter months. Large rooms in large cold houses required many a cord of birchwood. Here in the woodhouse, the wood was sawn, chopped and stored.

The first floor was used for drying clothes and storing food.

Shutters in the walls made it possible to regulate ventilation.
