The manor house, or mansion, was built in the late Empire style in 1864. In 1896 it was extended both in length and height and adorned with Swiss decor.

The Ellingsen family has lived in the manor house for five generations.

In addition to the squire's family, a governess, a babysitter, a cook, a housekeeper, a parlormaid and several servant girls lived here.
