The
Boathouse was built in 1844. Some of the visiting fishermen rented
room in it to keep their boats there until the next fishing season.
The smallest boats were lifted up and
hung beneath the ceiling, but the eight-oarers and the larger
"fembøringer" were kept on the earth floor. Rowing boats were
predominant in Å until motor boats took over round about 1915.
The museum's main fisheries exhibition and the "Myth & Legend"
exhibition are on display here.
