Hi to all of you at lofotens, I live here at wangan 100 ks south of Cairns,Queensland, in a tropical climate , surrounded by sugar cane, Bananas, paw-paw, Pinapples and passion fruits and most other tropical fruits, oranges Mandarins, Climate winter 23-28c summer 25-35 c we have rain fall of 3-4 meters a year most nights , rain, warm 22 c , about 12000 people live here, close to ocean, big river , lots of Crocodiles,fish, Prawns, my work is a fiskerman, catch prawns, 18 meter boat all night work . all the Best odd.

I visited the island on 1997. By that time there was a job program which was mainly to mantain a house, paint, etc. Since I still have my mind full of those memories and would like to go back (now with my small family) I would like to know if there is still a programm like that or any other job opportunitie. Dear Sir, Our national poet Nikos Kavvadias writes in one of his poems for the pilot [ex captain] Nagel Harbor[g] from the Lofoten island. Is there any info to confirm the name of the captain ? There is also a reference in the same poem for the Steamer Tank "Fjord Folden" I have already found 5 ships with the name FoldenFjord and I try to identify if it is the same ship. Lofoten var det peneste stedet jeg har en gang besøkt! Det var sommer, og veldig koselig! Det var litt kaldt, men vi hadde 25ºC noen dager. remembering when i was in lofoten islands -94 with my friend Nathaniel wienecke. It was so beautiful place. Got free night in the youth hostel. We also didn´t have norwegian krows so we got free return ride with a ferry. We met couple guys from the states. although staying in the youth hostel was a great experience. Now Nathaniel works in Washington D.C. He got a nomination from the president George Bush 2 summers ago. Looking forward to get there. -Marko Kehusmaa.

Waving hello from southern side of Europe. I'm a spanish writer and editor looking forward to change his life route. I always dreamt about living in the Great North, specially in such beautiful and quiet places as your magic islands (too tired of huge cities). I'm writing my first novel and it has a lot to do with this kind of life. I would love to spend a year (at least) at Lofoten, who knows what life could bring later. I'm ready to work at almost any kind of job, got some experience in cultural issues, editing, of course, Internet (got one of the most visited Spanish literature blogs), but also cooking or whatever. I learn fast and work hard. I also speak Catalan, some French and a bit of German. Today I got my first Norwegian (Bokmal) lesson, so... if any of you could help me to reach my dream: Tusen takk.

Our trip to Lofoton in 2003 was truly a memorable experience. My husband,s mother was born there in 1892. We found the home where she was born, the church where she was christened, and a host of wonderful relatives that we had never met. The family resemblence was remarkable! The scenery is awesome. It was a great vacation!
